Surah Ash-Sharh

سُورَةُ الشَّرۡحِ

Surah Ash-Sharh is the 94th surah of the Quran. Its name means “The Consolation”. It is a meccan surah of 8 verses, opening in juz 30 on page 596 of the mushaf. Below is the full Arabic text in Uthmani script with an English translation for every verse.

سُورَةُ الشَّرۡحِ

Ash-Sharh · Meccan · 8 ayahs

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ١ وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ٢ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ٣ وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ٤ فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا٥ إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًۭا٦ فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَٱنصَبْ٧ وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرْغَب٨

  1. 94:1

    Did We not expand for you, [O Muhammad], your breast?

  2. 94:2

    And We removed from you your burden

  3. 94:3

    Which had weighed upon your back

  4. 94:4

    And raised high for you your repute.

  5. 94:5

    For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

  6. 94:6

    Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

  7. 94:7

    So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].

  8. 94:8

    And to your Lord direct [your] longing.
